Sibling Rivalry // Audible: Ras Baraka

“In a first-of-its-kind telling, using prose, poetry, musical interludes, and powerful soliloquies, Ras J. Baraka reveals his path from poet to school principal to politician.”

Teaming up with production power house Sibling Rivalry, I had the privilege to shoot 2nd unit on their recent production for Audible: Ras Baraka. I worked closely with Creative Director, Gustavo Dao and company owner Mikon Van Gastel to bring textural compositions of Newark, New Jersey to life. Our goal was to capture the essence of the city as it relates to Ras Baraka’s upbringing, to translate his passion for humble roots in a way that complimented the visuals of his performance and the edit style conceived by Gustavo. With the influence of design at the forefront, I was able to take liberties in experimenting with visual language of the spots.
